Overview:
Ainsworth Bowling Club is a community-focused sports club dedicated to promoting the sport of crown green bowls. The club is known for its friendly atmosphere and active participation in local events and charity initiatives.
History:
The club has a rich history, with the green originating sometime between 1894 and 1910 probably built by the Duke William pub which the green is adjacent to. The ownership of the green has passed on to The Metropolitan Borough of Bury and is managed under contract by Ainsworth Bowling Club.
Membership:
The club boasts around eighty members, with some playing competitively in three local leagues, while others enjoy the sport socially. Skilled or novice bowlers are always welcome, we also have registered coaches who are available for coaching and advice, making it a wonderful place to learn or play crown green bowls.
